I am very excited to announce that RUNNERS is now live on Webtoons!! It is part of Webtoon Canvas, where indie creators can upload their own series for free viewing online and on the Webtoons app.
Comics on Webtoons are read panel-by-panel through vertical scrolling. When I first looked into the site last year, I was baffled by the format. Why would anyone want to do that much scrolling to read a comic?? But having played around with it and after reformatting my comic, I now really like it! Interestingly, the scrolling gives the creator much greater control over pacing: the time it takes to scroll can sometimes act as a real-time beat between panels. And surprise panels work much better since you only see them when you are meant to, not when you flip a page and your eye goes to it prematurely. So I can definitely see the merits of the format now, and it’s very intriguing.
For the coming months, I’ll be posting Vol 1 and Vol 2 on Webtoons while I keep chugging away on new Vol 3 pages. Please feel free to check it out, like, and share!! http://bit.ly/327MjnL
For the bulk of last month, I was posting #shiptember sketches over on my Instagram account (@seanwangart). I ended it about a week early so I could focus on penciling actual Vol 3 pages, but I did manage to concept the bulk of the new ships that will be appearing in Vol 3. You can see them all on Instagram, and on my Patreon account (seanwangart), you can get higher-res versions along with design commentary.
For those who don’t already know, the color version of RUNNERS Vol 1 is now available!! All the Kickstarter pledges have been fulfilled and I am now looking to get the book into even more hands. You can order it from my Store (including the exclusive hardcover edition), Amazon, or ComiXology!
About a month ago, I went through and cleaned up, merged, and amended several RUNNERS listings online to get everything updated and optimized. Now that that’s all done, I would LOVE to have readers leave positive reviews for the series! It’s definitely hard as a small-press book to pull in new people, so every bit of positive word-of-mouth helps immensely.
You can leave reviews on Amazon here:
- Vol 1 (color edition): https://www.amazon.com/Runners-1-Bad-Goods-Color/dp/0976851733
- Vol 2: https://www.amazon.com/Runners-2-Big-Snow-Job/dp/0976851725
- (You might want to mention that people can buy it from me directly from the All Buying Options, since I am often not listed as the main seller of the book.)
You can leave reviews on GoodReads here:

And if you buy the books on ComiXology, please feel free to leave ratings and reviews there as well. Thanks, everyone!
I am currently doing some revamps on my runnersuniverse.com site to get some things updated before the new story launches. For visitors of the site, I have a few questions, and any input would be greatly appreciated.
- What would you like to see as the home page? I am debating between having it be the latest page of the story (along with its commentary and reader comments) or a static, landing page that is an intro to the series, including info on the characters, world, and archive. On that home page, there would then be links to the latest page and start of the story.
- Would readers like it if I implemented Disqus to handle discussion and comments on the site? Would you find it better or worse than the current system for leaving comments?
- Would you like the blog to be a part of the home page or on a separate page? If the home page hosts actual comic pages, the blog being a part of that can clutter it up a bit, instead of just having the focus be on the page itself and comments. But if the blog is on a separate page, I’m not sure if it will be seen as much.
Please feel free to chime in with your thoughts! Thanks!!
