So if I had one thing to do over with this first issue, I feel like I didn’t quite establish this situation as clearly as I should have. The idea is that the girl is lying next to a second ruptured canister, which is a different canister from the one Roka and Ril found on the previous page. I probably should have had a more aerial view of the cargo bay that showed Roka and Ril (and the first ruptured canister) in another row a short distance away from Cember, Bennesaud, and Bocce (and the other ruptured canister).
The canister next to the girl doesn’t even appear damaged in this panel, which it is supposed to be. I guess at the time, it was more important for me to zoom in for the big character reveal than it was to show the setting around her. In the end, it’s not a huge deal and doesn’t really affect the story, but it’s something I meant to be clearer, since it influences the characters’ hypotheses in the next issue.
I had read this as a free comic day issue, I didn’t catch on to their being a second ruptured tank at all. I guess I didn’t notice the containment fluid on the canister. But it is there for the reader to put together when it comes up later. It is nice to discover the things you missed.
The ruptured canister next to the girl is shown more clearly in the first couple pages of issue #2, so it doesn’t bug me too much that it isn’t shown on this page. But it’s never made clear that the one Roka and Ril passed by earlier is a different canister altogether. Oh well.
