I was really looking forward to getting to this part of Grissom’s story, as it adds a fun wrinkle to her interactions with Roka and Ril and explains why she may be hanging out with them when she should be going her own way. It also now explains her early release from prison, which she mentioned earlier in this volume.
As a bonus, here is link to my Patreon with a free public post featuring the full mob tree art as they were originally done. The post also includes these two pages in their various art stages of pencils, inks, and colors, something I have been offering with all my other RUNNERS pages through Patreon.
He should be asking about that mercenary, why they were a threat, what they wanted, and who they worked for. Get a full debriefing. Then he’d figure out that it’s not Roka he needs, but Sky.
Yeah, but he works for a government, so we can’t expect that level of forethought or cunning.
I agree with someone that bringing up a mercenary should lead to more questions. So perhaps it’s says something about Cahto, Once it was decided that Roka is the key, it will be the only way to get the job done. Another characteristic that fits well with a government worker.
Really anyone looking to climb a hierarchy.
That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if the dude wants Roka specifically because he used to be USP. Grabbing a traitor could be a nice cushion if the whole take down all of organized crime thing falls through, not to mention appealing to his sense of justice could make him an easy flip to informant.
Hey all! I forgot to add an extra bit to the commentary before the post went live. It has since been added. It is a link to a free Patreon post that includes the three full mob tree images I did for this sequence. Fun to see them in their entirety.
Thanks for sharing the mob tree. All kinds of possible connections with characters we’ve met so far come to mind. Considering the line of business we could see some transfers and maybe some portraits crossed out.
Anyone up for a game of Fantasy Mobster League?
I don’t know what Fantasy Mobster League is but, to answer your question: yes!
I put my nark-chip on green, bet 75 nano-bloobons for a turf war at the illegal snarg racing pit and floop the wanted poster of the guy who’s head kind of looks like a manta-ray. Then I will end my turn.
Nice moves for a game you don’t know. 😀
I bet you’re also good at Calvinball. 😉
Just ok. Never could remember all the rules.
