I had introduced the Unified Space Patrol waaaaayy back in my very first RUNNERS short story, which was originally published in the Small Press Expo’s 2000 anthology and later reprinted in my graphic novel collection of Volume 1. For their re-introduction here, I just did a slight refinement pass to sort out some details. I also wanted to settle on the actual insignia, since the Unified side of things will be showing up more in the future.

The last thing was to figure out the colors for the costume. I generally prefer cooler colors and don’t use red very much, so I specifically went with red to force myself into using it.
