When designing the main characters, I deliberately wanted them to holster their guns in different ways, so that each conveyed a slightly different personal style to flesh them out a bit more. Physically, Ril was meant to have arms on the shorter side, so it made sense for him to keep his gun within easy reach on the shoulder. Plus I always liked the look of those police detective shoulder holsters.
Shoulder holsters are good for concealment, but for quickness, nothing beats a low-on-the-hip breakaway.
Well, unless you can master a sleeve-holster, but those are .. difficult
True, a hip holster is probably best for quickness. I figure in most instances, they aren’t worried too much about Western-showdown-type quick draws though. They pretty much go into potential trouble with guns already drawn. That being said, being the resident weapon aficionado, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ril did have some sort of spring-loaded sleeve weapon.
That’s a good idea, I am picking up all sorts of tips from this commentary.
Yay! Always makes me happy when people are enjoying the commentary. I just watched one of the Futurama movies with commentary and was a bit disappointed. I guess when you have 6-8 actors/writers/directors/etc in the room, the track is just going to devolve into everyone just goofing and talking over each other about random things. But I really wanted to hear more about the writing of that particular story. Anyway, I like that with the commentaries, I get to talk about some of those behind-the-scenes things. And it’s cool that others get something out of it too!
