Hello from RunnersUniverse?
Just running a little test. I haven’t gotten any comments here on runnersuniverse.com in a while. So I have no idea if people are actually seeing any of these posts. Maybe everyone is getting their interactions from social media instead, maybe there’s some glitch here I need to look into, or maybe people just don’t comment here.
If you are somehow getting this message, please let me know how you are interacting with runnersuniverse.com. Are you getting any kind of notification when I post? Do you just manually swing by the site on occasion to see if there’s something new? Any feedback would be great, so I can get a handle on what to do here. Thanks!
Still following you via RSS (on Feedly). Though I’m also supporting you on Patreon so I’m getting most of the new news there 🙂
Also follow on Feedly.
Same here
Also also same same.
Ditto!
Same as Phyre here.
Cool. Thanks for chiming in! Just want to make sure there wasn’t some glitch keeping people from knowing about posts. The advent of social media and other formats has really spread things out, so it’s sometimes hard to figure out where the traffic and interaction is!
Feedly here as well.
Also using RSS feed but I use Feeder.
I get a notification when you post
I get your RSS feed on The Old Reader. I also am a Patreon patron, so I see the content from there as well as from here.
Awesome. Thanks everyone for letting me know! Good to know the posts aren’t being lost and people are seeing them.
I do NOT get a notification. I swing by once a month and see if anything new has been posted.
I generally read webcomics in “chunks,” so I’ll come and go usually
Cool. Thanks for the info!
Hi there. When I saw that the color editions were coming out, I bought the original black and white series on ebay. I’m finally sitting down to read volume 1. Loving it all over again. It’s somewhere in between Star Wars and Firefly. With MORE aliens! I think it’s great that you’re working on volume 3. I’m spreading the word about this series to my Star Wars and Firefly friends. How far along is volume 3 now? It’s been awhile, obviously, since you posted. Hope to see you at the Portland Rose City Comic con some day. Hope to see you pretty much anywhere!!
Hey Daniel! Glad you’re enjoying the series and thanks so much for helping to spread the word. I definitely think Star Wars and Firefly fans are the IDEAL audience. Vol 3 is chugging along but it’s taking a bit longer than expected unfortunately. Some of that has been general work in getting the series back up and running for the long-term though (IE website revamp, colorist search, getting it onto ComiXology and Webtoon, etc). As more of that gets done, I can focus more on JUST comic pages, which will be really nice. But on the plus side, the colorist is almost done with the 34 pages of Chapter 1. Then I just need to tweak the colors a little and letter them. So those are getting very close to being done and ready for posting! And I am about 3/4 done with pencils and inks on Chapter 2. So it’s been a long process in getting Vol 3 ready, but once it starts, it should keep going until done without major interruptions!
It’s one day later, and I just finished volume 2. The Big Snow Job. I haven’t heard that term used for a con since I was a kid. I liked volume 1 a bit better since it was more rambunctious in its “urban” and outer space settings. Volume 2 was a little bit too much in one place. Still, I liked the mystery of the yaks and the real reason the crew were hired to “retrieve” then. I can’t tell from the cover of volume 3 if you are jumping into the mob war, or if you’re still building towards it. Either way, I’m looking forward to it. Two questions: I thought you were your own colorist but you mentioned sending off v.3 ch. 1 to your colorist. Will they be getting a credit on the title page? A good colorist is worth their weight in gold. Second, are you doing another Kickstarter for volume 3?
Hello again! Yeah, Vol 1 was always meant to be a fun, light romp of a story. With Vol 2 I wanted to start getting into some other world-building things, like the mob rivalries and some character backstories. So it’s a slightly different vibe, but hopefully still very entertaining. Vol 3 was going to be the mob war, but I realized I needed a little bit more time to set up some other things first. So it doesn’t quite get there yet, but it’s still headed in that direction (as well as in several others).
Great question about the colorist. I will definitely give him credit somewhere in the book, ideally somewhere with some prominence. I haven’t figured it out just yet and want to make sure the process works out. I really like his work so far though, so hopefully it will be a very long-term set-up and he’ll be credited in many books going forward!
I will definitely do Kickstarters for every print book. Each story will first post here on RunnersUniverse and on Webtoon. I MIGHT offer digital single issues of each new chapter on ComiXology as they finish, but I’m undecided on that right now, since I don’t know if there’s the audience at the moment to justify the effort. But once each volume wraps up, I’ll launch a Kickstarter to fund the printing of the physical books.
