I have to say it was very fun revisiting this scene from the very beginning of Volume 1. But in doing so, I was also cursing myself for making those damn clone tanks so complicated. They are quite the chore to draw repeatedly, and I can’t believe I drew so many of them in the first book. I’m sure plenty of other artists would just draw one and then duplicate it digitally, but I guess I am just a sucker for punishment in drawing them all individually.

When the reveal leads to even more questions! 😀
My best guess is that they were looking for a specific person and that the captain managed to let that one escape.
The way they open the tanks doesn’t seem like a very safe method, but it’s probably faster than hacking the systems to open them.
Duplicating Digitally in a Clone Scene? Is that legal?
They were after the grape jelly. Fetches a steep price on the black market now that yummy space food has been outlawed. But there’s a person in the vat? What? Gross.
It’s like the fabled worm in the tequila bottle. It’s a feature to indicate quality! Only the best grape jelly has people in it.
