I keep waffling back and forth between where the best place is to put the “I’m sorry” word balloon. Half the time, I think it works best in the second-to-last panel, as Ril engages the face shield on the helmet, giving the following button-pressing panel a bit more oomph by not having any words over it. And then the other half of the time, I like it this way, where “I’m sorry” is juxtaposed over the actual pressing of the button.
Basically it feels like both accomplish 95% of the same thing. But the timing in the last or second-to-last panel has a tiny fraction of a difference in feel. I’m still kinda torn. But like I said, it’s 95% the same so either works, I guess.
I feel this is the right and only way to place “I’m sorry”. It’s a nice logical sequence.
I think the other way only would have worked if Ril had his beak/mouth slightly open.
Otherwise it looks weird.
I’m more stuck on if “me either” is the right response. I feel “neither do you” would be correct.
With “me either” it reads like Ril is also not giving himself a choice? I could be wrong. Where is the grammar police?
Funny how the serious situation of Sky and Jayd ended with a joke and Ril’s battle with these Minion like creatures seems to get a rather tragic ending.
Did you try having the balloon with no tail hovering over the gutter between the two panels?
Interesting. I had not considered that. In general though, I try to keep the gutters clean, except for the very occasional bit of art that breaks the panel. But definitely something to think about, maybe for future scenes.
You definitely made the right choice.
I would’ve thought Ril would’ve had enough by now and muttered….”Suck it, Turdlings!” Get it? ….Cuz you’re being sucked out into space. oh never mind… Ril’s a softie with a heart of gold.
Well now I’m regretting going with the name “Tedeskians” instead of “Turdlings.”
