I’ve heard that actors like to have props they can handle so they have something physical to do in talky scenes, even if it’s just sipping from a coffee cup. It can definitely be a bit static if characters are just standing and talking. In those kinds of scenes, I like to add some sort of side action if I can, even if it’s never referred to by the characters or has any attention called to it. In this case, Ozomo sliding the food tray under the bars and Azarek eating gave those two a little something extra to do in the scene.
Azarek’s story sounds like another interesting flashback I’d like to see in more detail.
Runners universe needs a whole comic book line!
It’s definitely been fun on several occasions where a random line not meant to have a real thought-through story lends itself to something that would be fun to flesh out more. I always thought it would be great to do a series of short stories set in the RUNNERS universe, maybe as a Free Comic Book Day issue, or online, or just its own collected volume. No idea where I’d find the time, but it’s always parked in my mind.
A comic book line sounds pretty good. Sean does call it the Runners “universe” after all.
Then a few years down the line Hollywood will come knocking, and we’ll see the beginning of the Runners Cinematic Universe. 🙂 (or at least we can dream)
Oooh!! RUNNERS Cinematic Universe. That would be sweet. And action figures. Don’t forget the toys!! 🙂
