I originally planned to show this entire fight scene, but the overall story started to run pretty long so I had to find scenes to cut. In this case, I knew another, more important action scene was coming up shortly, so it was easy to cut this one. Sometimes it’s also kinda fun to leave the action implied for comedic effect.
The colorist on all these pages is Cyril Vincent, by the way. While I enjoyed coloring Volumes 1 and 2 myself, it is the art process I am least comfortable with. And in order to crank out the RUNNERS content at a faster clip, I needed to find things that I could farm out to other people so I could focus on the writing, penciling, and inking. I will say I am really happy with the work Cyril has been doing and the pages look great!
Reading this at a slower pace I’ve noticed an interesting bit of visual storytelling. I won’t spoil it, let’s see who else will notice.
Agreed on the fight being obscured making it more fun. You can play in your head what he did to those guys and everyone has their own fight. Though apparently it was over pretty quick.
