I’ve mentioned designing props and weapons to accommodate different alien physiology and anatomy. In the case of Ril’s binoculars, that meant doing a slight re-design. In my first pass, I ended up with binoculars that were flat in the back where the user looks into them. But when I started drawing the actual page, I realized that with Ril’s horn, he wouldn’t be able to get the binoculars close enough to his eyes! So I added the telescoping eye stalks. Crisis averted.
lol, good adjustment. Believe or not, even if Ril is my favorite character
I sometimes forget he has a horn 😛
That looks like a lot of guards… run away!
Heh, I just got a goofy image of Ril holding a telescope to each eye.
What’s the reason for the asymmetrical lens shape?
No real reason for the odd lens shape other than I thought it would be cool to do something a bit more unusual with the look. Or we can say the binoculars were originally designed for an alien race that has huge, bulging left eyes and a smaller, normal-sized right eyes.
Binocs
2 zoom depths simultaneously perhaps
or for some kind of light bending goggles that let’s you see around corners which require offsynch lenses in order to work and so you know which way is up with right side always smaller and good for onehanded grip
Can’t it be that he just wanted something to look different.
sure! but it’s fun to toss ideas out there too… Maybe too tangental or irrelevant to what matters? Shrug.
I keep wondering if Ril’s horn gets in the way of his binocular vision… (that is, without the binocs, I mean)
