He has FOUR sets of ankles. Ha ha! April Fool’s! Belated April Fool’s anyway.
But seriously, sometimes I try to come up with more alien physiology so that creatures aren’t entirely based on humans or real animals. In this case, I gave Ril an extra leg joint that’s kinda like a second ankle. I never really gave it too much thought as far as what the actual name for that joint would be and if I’d actually call it an “ankle.” But it definitely acts like a second ankle. It’s like a foot ankle, so maybe I’ll call it a “fankle.” Or not. 🙂
Well, real animals have hind legs like that, but they all walk on the balls of their feet and generally don’t walk upright for extended periods of time. I always kind of imagined that if an alien were to walk like that it would need a completely extra set of joints (fankles) in order to support the weight of standing upright.
I know that this is a total geek question, but do imagine Ril having two sets of ankles, or just really long toes?
