Snow Job Ch 05 Pg 08

The staging here is why I mentioned earlier that I wanted to have some wide open spaces in setting up the location for the shootout sequence. I wanted to have a big area where everyone could gather once the good guys surrendered and the Kaagan-Vas and Suul’s men closed in around them. Plus, there had to be room for all the yak!

I’m pretty happy with how this sequence turned out, especially the cutting back and forth between Goshen and Baso to heighten the tension as Baso struggles with his decision. I like that panels 5 and 6 are actually each character’s POV of the other.

baso is a kaagan-vas for a long time, no need for initiations. i think he’ll do it.

I agree partly. I think he has issues with Goshen (his expression in the last panel seems like directed anger at his father) and would have no qualms shooting him (plus it gives Sean all sorts of possibilities to get his dynamic art on). But I think he might not be able to shoot Keyla. Simply as a guy with a little sis of my own, it’s hard for me to see Baso as capable of it – there is that line between ruthless mercenary and monster that I have yet to see any indication that Baso has crossed.

If I was to guess how I think it might happen, Goshen gets shot and in the moment Baso is conflicted with shooting Keyla, Bennasaud flips out and charges into the fray. As all hell breaks loose, Bocce comes to the rescue, turning the tide.

Also Grissom in a furkini. 😀

But Sean is tricky, he’s not easy to predict on things like this and seems to only dangle the occasional guess-able bit or convention to keep the readers off balance.

Since we are throwing out predictions…. I say Bocce appears before Baso can decide, followed by chaos and at the end of it Baso will again be put in a similar situation.
