This October, I’ll be doing the Inktober challenge for the first time! Looking forward to doing a daily inked piece, which will include some new alien and starship designs that might make it into future RUNNERS stories. I’m hoping to make this a more regular thing past October to keep the creative juices flowing and the artistic abilities progressing. So follow me now for all the upcoming art posts: @seanwangart on Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr!
Attention comic readers! The Broken Frontier Anthology that I contributed to last year is now available on comiXology! It’s over 300 pages of sci-fi, superhero, and action adventure, with 27 short stories about exploration and breaking boundaries and more than 50 creators. Check it out here!
I had previously posted a couple of the inked pages from my story, but here are those same pages in color. It was a lot of fun to do and had been a while since my last bit of comic work. Very much looking forward to getting back to more comic work in the near future!
A while back, I mentioned that I was contributing a short story to the Broken Frontier Anthology, which ran a successful campaign on Kickstarter. Thanks to everybody who backed the project and helped make it happen!
I am currently working on my 8-pages (in between the usual freelance workload) and so far, so good! All the pages are inked and I’m now working on the coloring. It’s pretty exciting to be doing some actual comic pages again, since it has been a while. Anyway, here is a sneak preview of the first 2 inked pages:
If you missed the Kickstarter campaign, you can still order the book at bfanthology.com
A while back, I mentioned that the DAVE (Digital Animation and Visual Effects) School in Orlando would be doing a RUNNERS animated short as a final class project. It is now DONE and online!!
Last week they flew me down to check out the final film and attend the class graduation. It was a real treat to see the animation… in 3-D!…at the local cineplex theater!! And it was great to meet many of the graduating students afterwards.
As with the last short (back in 2006), I gave them free reign to adapt the comic and characters as they saw fit. I didn’t give any input along the way, so certain things are a little off, like some character proportions and ship dimensions. But those are minor things that don’t detract from the overall awesomeness of seeing RUNNERS animated (again)!
Check it out here!
I’m excited to announce that I will be contributing a comic short story to the Broken Frontier Anthology, which just launched on Kickstarter! It’s over 250 pages, with 40 creators telling stories about breaking boundaries and exploring the great unknown. While I won’t be doing a Runners story, I will be doing an all-new, one-off adventure set on the high seas. It’ll be really fun for me to squeeze in a new comic story, something I haven’t been able to do in a while due to my freelance workload. So please check out the campaign, pledge to get your copy of the book, and help spread the word!
