In the Volume 2 flashback, Pahjan runs to the barn, yelling “Bocce!,” when he is gunned down. So I thought when Meeka runs out, the Kaagan-Vas would assume he was Bocce. While not super essential, it would explain why they don’t think anyone else is at the farm and would move on without finding the real Bocce.
