This beat with Grissom wasn’t originally intended but I like that in a very short amount of space, it accomplishes three things. It contributes to the mini-arc regarding Roka feeling distant from Grissom and thinking she may not have his back anymore, so it’s nice to see that she does. It also gives her character a hint of more backstory as we learn what prison might have been like for her. And finally, it makes for a good transition to Bocce’s fight scene. As I mentioned before, I do love when one thing can serve multiple purposes.
Also, Bocce’s design from the very beginning has included this knife on the back of his belt, but I don’t think I’ve shown him using it until now. Next, he’ll finally get to all those Chiclets he has stored in his belt pouches that have also gone heretofore unused.
Shouldn’t there be blood on that sword?
Electro-static self cleaning blade. It dices, it slices, it purées, and then cleans itself. Available now! Operators are standing by. Only 7,480 credits from…
What Frith said! Also, yeah, there probably should be blood.
Good storytelling!
Also nice to see some marks on Bocce while he’s brawling. That’s realistic and indicates that these opponents are no pushovers.
Thanks! And yeah, the marks are a little thing I sometimes don’t think to include. But they do add that tiny little bit to help sell the idea of a scuffle.
If I was Bocce, I’d probably stick my glowy arm into orifices and expand it. Slip a finger into an ear canal and enlarge it to the size of a grapefruit, pop their noggin.
Or going with the ear canals, why not just a bunch of wet willies for everyone? Why fight them when you can just annoy them all so much that they just leave? This just may become Bocce’s new fighting style!
