I really love looking at Jayd’s energy armor. It’s definitely tough though trying to match the look between different scenes, different lighting conditions, and with the coloring being done by different people. And working in CMYK mode, it’s also always a crap shoot with how glow effects will turn out. So it does take a lot of trial and error and tweaking to get the look right.
In this sequence, my new colorist Robby did an awesome job. I did find that the intensity of the orange didn’t quite match some earlier pages (that I may not have sent as reference), so it took a little tweaking on my end to make sure it looked approximately the same.
Sky will fly, but I can’t see her leaving Jayd alone with the Skulltists.
The energy has looked good throughout the story. At least, I don’t remember it looking off somewhere. Perhaps different levels of transparency, but that can be related to the purpose of each creation.
I was wondering if the change of heart came too fast, but I had forgotten about the moment with the Space Whale sculpture and of course Jayd had dinner with the crew and thought well of them. Almost all of them. 😉
