I do love a good character silhouette with backlight spilling out around it!
As for the overall tint of the scene, I asked the colorist (Cyril Vincent) to add a blue tint to make the scene a bit dimmer. It easily could have been the usual brightly lit cargo bay, but (a) with it just being cargo and not an active area of the ship, it made sense that they might not keep it fully lit, and (b) given the scene of the ship being boarded, I thought a dimmer light scheme would fit the suspenseful mood better.
For a look at some behind-the-scenes art process, head over to my Patreon page, where I have a freebie post showing the art stages for this page. You’ll find the blue-line pencils, inked line art, and colors (without lettering). Patreon backers at all levels get access to one select page each month in the various art stages. Backers at the $5 tier and higher get access to EVERY page in art stages, in addition to other cool extras like sketchbook pages with commentary and more!
The moment of truth… Invasion of the Roka clones or not? Will Ril blast them to such tiny bits that we’ll never know?
Somehow I suspect we’ll switch focus to another scene. 😉
Huh. I fully expected the hostile ship to destroy the escape pod anyway to ensure there’d be no witnesses.
I guess this ‘Lennik Nisga’ values his word even if he is a pirate.
