Like some other characters in the series, I originally came up with Jayd literally decades ago as a superhero design. Back then, her name was “Jade” and she was asian, because of course she was. I thought it would be cool to have someone conjure armor and weapons and be able to constantly change the designs whenever I wanted to since the armaments would be uniquely conjured each time based on the need.
The energy was supposed to be green (thus the name “Jade”), but I changed it since the ability to manipulate green energy into recognizable shapes was just too similar to Green Lantern. In the end, after all these years, I kinda got attached to the name “Jade,” even though it didn’t quite fit the color scheme anymore. So she became “Jayd.” The powers remained the same but are now attributed to alien ability rather than being bitten by a radioactive ring.
This is the best sci-fi comic I have found & read. You are truly an amazing artist & story writer. Awesome ? ? ? ? ? ??
Yay!! Thanks so much for the kind words and thanks for giving the series that initial chance and becoming a regular reader!!
I can’t be the only one who’s thinking about the result of her last fight…
To be fair, that previously group had all just eaten a really big meal, so they were a bit sluggish. Luckily, Roka’s crew has only had unsatisfying meals of root beetles and burnt yak meat. So they’re good to go!
This is so cool. My fist thought was that “ZRAK” is a weird sound effect but once my brain made the word into a noise it made total sense. Very Star-Warsy.
Should anyone here be worried about shooting a hole in the hull of their own ship?
Funny you mention the “zrak.” I tend to use that one a lot since it sounds very laser-y to me. I actually have a hard time coming up with OTHER sounds! As for possible damage to the ship, I tend to think of the guns firing blasts that will take down a person but not actually damage the ship other than some possible scorch mark (which they would then assign Bocce to buff out!).
