As I mentioned a while back, I had not properly established Bocce’s spotty memory in the previous two volumes despite it being a significant part of his character. I finally had him mention it to Sky last chapter, but I didn’t want the rest of crew to also be learning about it at the same time. Instead, I wrote this scene to convey that they all already know and are now just asking about an update. That way, it skirts the repetitiveness of another shocked reaction and the inevitable peppering of questions. It also makes sense that they were all a crew before Sky joined them, so there were plenty of occasions where Bocce would have shared the info with them before now.
Good decision with regard to the story and the shared history of these characters.
I guess these guys don’t expect Jayd to strike any moment, but perhaps it’s Ril who’s alerted and has taken precautions.
I also think that Bocce knowing his past is not going the change who he is. Sky would be entirely altered by knowing the entirety of who and what she is. Bocce would just be Bocce with more information to work with.
