My original idea for the cuffs was for traditional chunky shackles made of solid metal, but I had a hard time accepting that they could realistically accommodate the wide range of wrist sizes of different aliens (those WITH wrists, anyway!). So instead I designed them to be solid segments that could expand with energy bands to accommodate very different sizes, and I think it works pretty well. Plus glowy bits are always cool!
The two characters move around a lot in the scene, and it was surprisingly difficult making sure the cuffs stayed on the same wrists the entire time and the characters were staged appropriately in relation to one another to maintain that connection. If there is any goof, we’ll just say they are the same type of magical untethered handcuffs that Riggs uses in the first Lethal Weapon movie when jumping off the building.
I like the thought process on the shackles.
And the fight choreography is really nice.
Plus, what is he going to do if he wins? Drag her through the streets? “Oh… this? This is… Uhhmmm… My emotional support, unconscious woman…”
Can’t see it in the last panel, but I can envision her using the cuff to pull him forward at the same time as kneeing him in the midriff.
Indeed, good thoughts on the shackles, especially as there is a size difference between their arms.
The only problem I see is that you have make sure the battery is charged or they may fail before you drag them in.
