A random note about this page: in panel 2, I originally drew Keyla with four fingers (and a thumb) on her gloved hand. For some reason, every time I looked at it, it just seemed wrong. I kept looking at it, trying to figure out if the anatomy of the hand itself was off or if it was something else. Then I finally realized…all the other Ulon Dosi have three fingers on each hand, not four! Not sure why my mind slipped on that particular panel. Anyway, I fixed it in the coloring stage so she now has the appropriate number of fingers.
Aliens. Hard to keep track of how many fingers each one of them has. Maybe I need a crib sheet.
Silly Keyla, everybody knows the cure for crush addiction is flat 7-up and Spacechicken noodle soup. Kids these days, always over-thinking everything.
This is … alien to me, fittingly. It seems very (north?) american to have characters lash out with indefensible statements in defense. (No way are the runners fools for leaping at the simplest explanation.)
This makes the lashee seem weaker, not stronger. An odd bit of psychology, I have to keep thinking “funny, wouldn’t do it, but maybe it works for _those_ sods”.
I thought about this lashing out being typical (north) American, but I think it is more about what kind of person the lashee is. Like I can imagine Ril having the same reaction as Keyla, while someone like Benne would remain calm and explain. Cember would proabably wrap a joke around it or something.
Oops, I didn’t mean for that to make people _think_ – it is better to enjoy the great comic instead!
Anyway: Perhaps. I just don’t see it much around here, and as I described it I think there is a (cultural?) rationale for that.
When people go mad, they can go “mad”, I’ll give you that. (O.o) Anything can happen.
Good Yule, btw!
(Wouldn’t it be fun to see Bennesaud in a Claus hat?)
I saw it as a somewhat justifiable belief with some basis.
First, these are smugglers and will have a smuggler mentality. To them, anyone with an interest in crush is, due to their probable experiences, either an addict or involved in its sale/transport.
In Snow Job Ch 04 Pg 07, Roka and Ril’s reaction to the destroying of the crush as well as Keyla’s valuing of it.
Then in Snow Job Ch 04 Pg 08, we see Keyla being a little too interested and Ril and Roka have an expression of defined suspicion towards her. So to them, they are probably already thinking, “This girl is up to something.”
In Snow Job Ch 04 Pg 18, Ril’s suspicion is stated, and then in this page, Roka’s.
So much for not making people think, ey Torbjörn? 😀
Good Yule to you too.
Bennesaud would probably look cool with a Claus hat.
Although he is more likely to buy the hat for Cember. 😉
Nice analysis/recap Exxos!
Torbjörn, I’m not sure I can tell what statements you’re referring to.
“No way are the runners fools for leaping at the simplest explanation.” -> “You fools! I’m not trying to _steal_ it.”
Also, every time I read “Prove it,” my addled mind adds, “… through interpretive dance.” This amuses me more than it should.
