well inertial dampeners only dampen. any severe acceleration might still be felt, at least momentarily until the system catches up. Like the dampeners in a automobile shock absorbers, they take (deflected) directed force and spread it out. Some of that force still winds up reaching the original destination

I love that you have a blurb below every page, I love hearing artists talk about why they did what and what doesn’t make sense and all that jazz, I am going back and reading all these.
Cember’s dejected face here is still one of my favorite Runners moments.
I like it too. I find I haven’t really played with the expressiveness of his face as much in the later stories, so I may need to revisit this sort of thing.
