New Epilogue Under Way!

April 3, 2012

A couple weeks ago, I scripted the all-new epilogue for The Big Snow Job. Looks like it will be 6 pages, of which I now have the first 3 penciled. I plan to pencil the other 3 and ink all 6 this week. Hopefully, by the end of next week, it will all be colored and lettered.

New Review on Ain’t It Cool News

April 18, 2012

Runners: The Big Snow Job just got a great review on Ain’t It Cool News! I’ve been sending preview copies of the story out to review sites with the intention of including some pull quotes in the printed volume, and this review was just posted. Check it out!

In other news, the 6-page epilogue is now completely inked and I will be coloring and lettering it in the next week or two. If I didn’t mention it before, it will be exclusive to the printed graphic novel as a little bonus thank you to everyone dropping their hard-earned benjamins for the printed book. Do people still say, “benjamins?”

Kickstarter Project in the works!

January 25, 2013

Due to family issues, the bulk of 2012 got away from me, but things seemed to have settled enough for me to get back to putting together a Kickstarter project to fund the printing of Runners: The Big Snow Job! I’ve spent the last few days researching costs and figuring out all the various reward levels, so I’m happy to report that that’s now more-or-less finalized. It was quite the headache trying to figure out tiers for a book project, where a previous book was also available. Basically, I wanted a number of different options for getting Snow Job (the new book) with various bonuses, but I didn’t want every tier to then have a second option that also included Bad Goods (the first book). That would have made the whole thing unwieldy to navigate, I think. In the end, it looks like a few key reward tiers will specifically include Bad Goods, and for the rest of the tiers, you’ll be able to add money to your pledge to include Bad Goods as an “add on.” That seemed to be the most elegant solution.

Now it’s on to drawing the cover image for the graphic novel…

Graphic Novel Cover Revealed!

February 16, 2013

With one week to go until I officially launch my Kickstarter campaign, I figured now would probably be a good time to maybe get the actual front cover to the book done. So here it is: the front cover for the upcoming Runners: The Big Snow Job graphic novel!

Kickstarter DONE! Thanks everyone!!

November 18, 2013

As of a couple week ago, I officially finished sending out all the Kickstarter rewards that I was able to. There were a few people who never got their addresses to me and some who didn’t reply to emails asking for additional info or international shipping, but other than that, everything has gone out at this point! I hope it was worth the wait. It ended up taking a bit longer than I originally planned, but I had decided to tackle everything myself, and that ended up taking quite a bit of time as a one-man operation. By my tally, between copies of Bad Goods and The Big Snow Job, I ended up doing over 755 head sketches!!

Along the way, I apparently forgot to send out the digital version of the Battle Royale Print. While backers over $35 received a free physical print as a Stretch Goal reward, I had also announced that EVERYONE would get the digital version. Oops. I will be correcting that very shortly, so Kickstarter backers, be on the lookout for an update with a link to a higher-res version of the image below.

Finally, I have now updated the Store with both the hardcover and paperback versions of the new graphic novel, as well as some leftover sketchbooks, prints, and character card sets from the Kickstarter project. If you missed anything during the campaign, you can get most of the items now at the Store. You can also now get digital PDF versions of both graphic novels and the sketchbook! Woot!

Thanks everyone for making the Kickstarter campaign such a success. And thanks for all the amazing support, encouragement, and patience during the process!!

Good News, Bad News, and Good News

April 8, 2019

Just an update on the printing of my colored RUNNERS Volume 1 book: there’s good news, bad news, and good news again.

The Good News: about a week ago, the printed books were delivered!

The Bad News: Upon reviewing the books, I was super disappointed to see that a lot of pages were oversaturated, throwing the look of the characters off and making those pages too dark overall. I’m not crazy-nitpicky, but it was certainly something that made the art less than it should be, especially as the volume that’s supposed to launch the entire series. And for a year of coloring work and as the book that I’ll be selling for years to come, I just wasn’t happy with the results. For the past week, I’ve been waiting as the printer reviewed their files to see if it was a problem on their end or mine (although I already knew it was not mine).

The Good News: I talked to the printer today and they did acknowledge that it was a saturation setting on their end. We discussed options, but ultimately I want to have the run reprinted with the correct color settings. Unfortunately, since they’re schedule is pretty packed, the new run won’t be until June. They suggested that I could fulfill current orders with the books in hand and they’d reprint the remaining, but this didn’t seem fair. I didn’t want the earliest supporters (Kickstarter backers and pre-sale buyers) to get the “inferior” version now, just to have a better version later. So I guess we all wait.

I feel terrible about this on many fronts. I really hate the idea of pulping an entire run of books, but they really fall short of my expectations for the art. I really hate the idea of making people wait even longer to get the books. But I hope everyone will be understanding and find the wait worth it. I want to get people the best possible version of the book, and I hope this next print run will make that possible.

On the plus side, the printer has been nice to work with. They also printed my Vol 2 color book a number of years ago, and that was spot-on perfect. I don’t know what happened with this one, but they have been willing to make it right, which is great.

More updates to come…

RUNNERS Now Available On ComiXology!

April 18, 2019

I am SUPER excited to announce that RUNNERS is finally available on the digital comic site ComiXology!! The Volume 1 graphic novel is available for purchase, and even better, I also have a FREE preview issue available, which includes the first 2 chapters of the series! Please help me spread the word: now anyone on ComiXology can try the first 2 issues of RUNNERS for free! And Vol 2 will be coming to the site shortly as well!

For anyone unfamiliar with ComiXology, you have to BUY the books through their website. Once you buy them, you can read them via the app. I just don’t think you can buy through the app. And through the ComiXology app, you can read the book with their cool Guided View feature, which advances the story panel-by-panel on your device. It makes for a fun new way to read the series other than page-by-page (although that is also an option).

You can get the FREE Preview issue HERE.

And you can get the full Volume 1  graphic novel HERE.

And please remember to give it a good rating!! 🙂
