RSSI have to admit I love these three cattle rustlers. Design-wise, they seem pretty weird and alien, and I liked the outfits I came up with for them. I deliberately wanted them to have that South American/Southwestern US feel to their outfits and be reminiscent of rancher attire. Thus the banded ponchos and the cowboy-ish duster. Their hats originally looked much more like cowboy hats and sombreros, but I thought that ended up looking a bit too literal and out of place. After all, who would ever buy a sci-fi series with really strong Western outfits and themes? That would never catch on.

The first thing that came to my mind after your comment was Bravestarr.
Looks like Ril can relax about the cold, things will be heating up any minute now…
*shrug* It could have been a reference to Firefly too. Sadly, that didn’t catch on, and the world is less for it.
I was definitely going for the Firefly reference. Definitely an awesome show that deserved a better fate than it got. But while it didn’t hit it super-big with the masses, I wouldn’t say it didn’t catch on. It certainly found a huge audience on DVD and with Serenity, so at least within the sci-fi/comic/geek crowd, it’s done really well. Everyone else just doesn’t know what they’re missing.
The eye designs are great- particularly the blue guy in the first frame.
