Snow Job Ch 02 Pg 15

I love doing things in a story that people can come back to later and look at in a different way. When I first had Roka ask about connections to bosses, the response from the crew just reads as a humorous awkward silence of no one having anything to contribute. But now, looking back at that same panel, it seems obvious that Bennesaud is just looking down, deliberately keeping his info to himself. And Cember, who knows Bennesaud’s story, is actually looking at him to see what his response will be.

  1. Just went back and found the page in question. That’s neat. It’s nice to know you have enough of the story known beforehand that you can set up those moments. It adds to the immersion.

  2. Moose says:

I kinda saw it as Everyone had some connection to a boss, something they didnt want to bring up past about.

  3. Khard12 says:

Roka asked if anyone had an “in” with any bosses. If Beene had a falling out, he probably had a better reason to stay away from the boss than go asking for work.

  4. Feroz Nazir says:

Khard12 has a very valid point.

Doesn’t Roka realize that even though Bennesaud knows a boss, there really is no “in” at this point?

    • Sean Wang says:

I guess Roka’s thinking here is that if anyone has a connection to a boss, he should mine that connection for work. Even if Bennes had a falling out, if the relationship is in any way reparable, he should make the attempt for the potential betterment of the entire crew with higher quality work.

  5. Lurch says:

kinda funny how it’s always in the middle of some job that things get all tense, and people start needling others. Amusing how it shows up in comix, too.

  6. 613 The Evil says:

With Cember’s face and eyes, I doubt it’s “obvious”… Not really.
