What’s most interesting to me in Roka’s decision to conceal information about Sky is that I’m not quite sure of his motivations. And neither is he. Does he hold back on the info in order to do what’s right and save Sky? Or is he doing it for purely selfish reasons in not wanting to admit to himself that he’s running slaves so that he can sleep easier at night?
And he also lies about the fate of the Tique Amara, although that one’s a bit more understandable. Roka figures that Tylo would have wanted the ship destroyed or hidden somewhere anyway, so if Roka keeps it squirreled away himself in the Cove, he can at least use the ship for spare parts.
